The same sphere, twice. On the first canvas the Earth rests calmly in bright blue. Europe and Africa glow in green and warm orange; the sea sweeps around them in bold, white-streaked strokes.
On the second, everything has tipped. Desert eats its way across the land, the sea foams, a hurricane spins. Cooling towers smoke at the top, fighter jets fly on the left, a ship sinks on the right, oil drums drift at the bottom.
Fire breaks out of cracks, and black drips from the underside into a heavy pool. The same Earth, twice. Which one remains is decided outside the picture.
In the fireplace room, to the left and right of the fire, the pair holds the space in balance.
