Red as far as the eye can see. In front of it, a hero in a half-length portrait: black hair with a blue sheen, pale blue eyes, the corner of the mouth barely raised.
Black hatching cuts shadows into face and chest, the cape falls dark red over the shoulders. At the bottom edge a crest in red and yellow flashes, cropped.
A beginning, long before brilliant blue, magenta and cadmium yellow. The gaze is direct, almost mocking. Those who have to be strong rarely show what it costs.
This work is in a private collection. A portrait with the same pop art force can be created on request.
