A gaze that holds. Head-on, a lion's head fills the canvas, its mane breaking into flame-shaped facets of red, orange, turquoise, violet, pink and green.
One eye glows blue, the other green, the nose shimmers in lilac. Clean edges separate colour from colour; behind lies deep black, which makes every surface brighter still.
Strength shows itself in calm. This lion does not roar – it looks. All colours live in its face at once, each in its place, each with its own power.
The lion has been sold. Animals with the same presence appear in the limited editions Trono Notturno and Fedele – or you can enquire about an animal portrait in your size as a commission.
